We had a nice Thanksgiving. It was low-key but nice. We went to Drew's grandparents' house. We also ate entirely too much food. Just when I thought it was not possible to eat anymore, we had a second meal of leftovers later in the evening! Drew has 3 girl cousins that are all young (the youngest is almost 2) and Grant had a blast playing with them. He definitely loves other kids. He would not nap the entire day because he was having too much fun. I took him out of the playing situation to try and give him his oatmeal and he started crying! He was also captivated with their Christmas tree. I just put our tree up and I think we are in trouble.
Some photos of the day...
We stayed over at Drew's parents house since we got home so late. The next morning, Drew's dad brought out a rocking horse that Grandpa Johnson made for Drew and Derek when they were little kids. Grant loved it! He thought he was so cool sitting on that thing and rocking.
In other news, he has been doing really well with his fruits and veggies. So far he has tried avocado, sweet potatoes, pears (he hates!), peas, squash, applesauce, prunes, and bananas. His favorite is bananas with prunes in a close second. Personally, I tried the prunes and I don't think they are all that good but he loves them. I have made almost all of his food except for the prunes and applesauce. Pretty soon we plan to try green beans and mango.
And I think he is pretty close to crawling! That's scary! The last few weeks, he started "swimming" on the carpet. Seriously, he looks like he is swimming only on land. I started getting worried that I ruined his development by putting him in swimming lessons so early but then I learned that the motion is a normal progression towards crawling. Then, late this afternoon we had him on the floor and he got up on all 4's and actually took one crawl forward. After that, he got all confused and fell down. He's so close though! I predict definite crawling by Christmas and maybe even before. When he gets on a move, we are in trouble. He's already into everything when stationary!!
I have a lot of posts planned for later on this week so stayed tuned.
